Would it run Mac OS X? Both were correct in their own ways, with iOS being Mac OS X at its core. But now an iPad Pro does run the Mac's operating system. I just don't really know why it does it. YouTuber Hacking Jules has released a new video showing us Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard running on a brand new 2020 iPad Pro via the magic of a virtual machine.

Apple’s microconsole and digital media player, Apple TV, has been around since 2007 and its newer generations run tvOS.

1. If a macOS installer can't be used on your Mac, the installer will let you know. For example, it might say that it's too old to be opened on this version of macOS, or that your Mac doesn't have enough free storage space for the installation.
2. Combined with a Mac, devices like the iPhone, AirPods, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePods, and Apple TV, offer some kind of useful integration that makes certain things seamless and easy.
3. The new Apple TV 4K runs tvOS 14.5 RC which includes features like HDR with high frame rates, color balance calibration, and more. Since the tvOS 14.5 RC is also available for the previous generation of Apple TV 4K, users are now checking it out for one of the said features.

Apple TV used to run iOS but that changed in 2015 when the tech giant announced the tvOS 9 update for the fourth generation of Apple TV.

Apple recently released the iOS and tvOS 14.5 RC (release candidate) updates which further indicates that the final versions might start rolling out soon.

However, iOS 14.5 is among the incremental versions that had the longest running beta programs so nothing is certain until Apple releases the stable versions.

Apart from that, Apple also unveiled the sixth generation of Apple TV 4K pretty recently with a bunch of improvements.

The new Apple TV 4K runs tvOS 14.5 RC which includes features like HDR with high frame rates, color balance calibration, and more.

Since the tvOS 14.5 RC is also available for the previous generation of Apple TV 4K, users are now checking it out for one of the said features.

The color balance calibration feature is gaining a lot of attention and several Apple TV 4K users are simply loving it.

While not everyone is taking a liking to the color balance feature, some users indeed want it to be brought to macOS.

It is only natural for users to root for features like color balance calibration to be brought on to the machine they use heavily.

This simply due to the fact that it allows them to adjust their screen colors manually or choose from optimized presets.

Apple’s macOS and tvOS have a lot of similar features but it is unclear whether or not users’ demand for the said feature will be fulfilled or not.

Update 1 (April 29, 2021)

The results are out and 58.3% users think that Apple should add the color balance calibration feature to macOS whereas 16.7% users do not want it. Also, 25% users do not care whether the said feature comes to macOS or not.

You may not remember, but the first Apple TV was introduced in 2007 and it was quite different from what Apple TV has become now. Even though the original model can’t run apps or have access to Apple TV+, there are still some fun things that more willing users can do with it, including running a full version of Mac OS X.

Back then, Apple TV was powered by an Intel processor instead of an ARM chip — which was first used with the second generation Apple TV. In fact, the first Apple TV has a modified 1GHz Intel Pentium M processor with 256MB of RAM and a regular hard drive, so it’s almost like this Apple TV was a Mac mini with different software.

Some users then discovered how to run a full version of Mac OS X on the first generation Apple TV, as it was based on Intel just like other Macs. The process isn’t easy since Mac OS X doesn’t have the necessary drivers to work on an Apple TV so the system needs to be adapted to that specific hardware, which is essentially like building a Hackintosh computer.

13 years later, the YouTube channel Computer Clan has shared a new video showing this process in detail for those who had no idea that it’s possible to install Mac OS X on an Apple TV. To get everything working, they had to remove the internal hard drive from Apple TV and plug it into a real Mac to install Mac OS X Tiger with the required changes.

Of course, Mac OS X will not run smoothly on a first-generation Apple TV and you can’t do much on it, but it’s amazing to see everything in action, not to mention the nostalgic feeling behind it.

Either way, this might be something fun to do in your spare time if you still have a 2007 Apple TV model.
